First Robotics Competition 2008: OverDrive
Team 573 is gearing up for this years First Robotics Competition Overdrive Challenge. Team 573's participation in the FIRST Robotics Competition inspires members of the team to work together as the team designs and builds a robot. Participation in the FIRST program fuels excitement about the engineering and the innovation it takes to build a robot capable of speed, strength, and agility necessary for the 2008 Overdrive Challenge.
Members of Team 573 come from Marian and Brother Rice High schools. The First organization's emphasis on Gracious Professionalism reinforces the strong values and morals that Marian and Brother Rice expect their students to live by everyday. Being a member of Team 573 and the First Program has helped members develop the leadership skills that are necessary later in life. On a more career-oriented level, the First program inspires members of Team 573 and many others on competing teams to learn engineering, writing, and animating skills. First gives participants first hand experience of the amount of work and collaboration that goes into a real engineering project.
