OCCRA, or Oakland County Competitive Robotics Association, is a FIRST inspired robotics league in Southeast Michigan. The league was formed to further inspire STEM disciplines, promote teamwork and gracious professionalism, and allow students to take part in a technical based, hands-on activity. About twenty five teams participate in OCCRA and build and compete during the fall season. Participating teams are completely student led; coaches and mentors may not influence the design of the robot. Teams are also responsible for their own fundraising and precision machinery is prohibited to ensure fairness between participating teams. OCCRA has replaced the Chief Delphi Invitational and Team 573 has been a competitor since 2002.
